Vista changes to notice

After installing I was spending sometime to find some of the usual stuff we are used to in XP and found few things are changed and thought it would be useful to blog them

1. Run command - to include this in the Start menu - right click on the start button and go to properties. Click customize and you can select the run command from the list of programs to be included in the start menu.

2. Windows activate button - Go to control panel -> system and you will find the Windows activate button if not activated or otherwise you will have message as windows activated.

3. Add or remove program - Its there in the control panel with a different caption as Programs and features.

4. Quick Search bar - This bar will be available in all the places as in Start menu, Control panel, Explorer. But in all these places it works with a context as if you search for a keyword "Activate" in Start menu it may not show you, but if you type the keyword in the search in the control panel it will.

Will work more to get many more such information....

My first experience with Windows Vista Ultimate

On receiving Windows Vista through my MSDN downloads, I was excited in exploring it. I decided to upgrade the operating system in my laptop (Core 2 Duo, 1.6 Ghz, 2GB RAM, nVidia GC 128 MB, 120 GB HDD was loaded with Windows XP Professional). So I ran the system check and surprisingly the report said that my machine's configuration was best suited for Windows Vista Business edition, but still could install Ultimate edition.

So I went ahead and installed the Ultimate and voila the new OS from MS was rocking. I bumped into few minor issues which got solved after installing the Windows Updates (Windows Ultimate extras).

The whole experience was exhilarating. I'll be exploring more of it in the coming days.....will keep you all posted on my R&D.
cheers,
Ravi
